NYSC seeks military’s support for Plateau corps members’ security, welfare

The Plateau State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Yavana Jonathan, has appealed to the Nigerian Army to intensify support for corps Members deployed in the state, emphasising the need for enhanced security and welfare.
Jonathan appealed on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy visit to Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.
He commended the military’s role in maintaining peace and providing security during NYSC orientation programs, stressing that continued collaboration is vital for the safety of corps members, particularly in high-risk areas.
A statement issued after the visit by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations,3 Division, Nigerian Army, Lt Col Aliyu Danja, quoted the NYSC Coordinator as saying,“The discipline and training imparted by the military have been invaluable in preparing Corps Members for national service.
“However, we must reinforce this partnership to address ongoing security challenges and ensure their well-being throughout the service year.”
The coordinator also expressed gratitude for the Army’s hospitality toward corps members stationed at the cantonment and called for additional welfare initiatives to improve their service experience.
In his response, Major General Oyinlola lauded the NYSC’s contributions to national unity and youth development, describing the scheme as a critical instrument of social cohesion.
