WAFCON 2024: Five teams qualify for quarter-finals

Five teams have now booked their places in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON.

On Sunday, Algeria and Zambia were confirmed for the last eight of the competition.

Algeria played out a 0-0 draw with the Super Falcons, to join the nine-time champions in the next round.

Nigeria will take on Zambia in the quarter-finals next Friday.

Morocco, who have already confirmed their spot in the next round, will take on the best third-placed team from Group B or C.

Senegal have also progressed as one of the two best-ranked third-place teams, despite finishing the group stages with only three points.
