I’ve fulfilled my dream of uniting people of Akwa Ibom – Gov Eno
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has proudly announced the fulfillment of his long-standing dream to unite all residents of the state, transcending political divides.
The governor made this statement on Monday during the Easter Evening of Hymns, an event held at the International Christian Worship Centre in Uyo. According to a release from the Government House press team, Governor Eno highlighted the importance of peace and unity above personal ambition or political affiliations.
“As a servant of God, I am honored to serve Akwa Ibom at this time. I can confidently say that I have fulfilled the ministry of reconciliation entrusted to me for the state,” Governor Eno declared.
He recalled his campaign promise to bring all Akwa Ibomites together, noting that the goal had been realized with choirs from the PDP, APC, and IPAC performing together at the event.
“This evening, we have witnessed a united Akwa Ibom, with people from all walks of life gathering in this sanctuary. It is truly a momentous occasion,” he said.
Governor Eno emphasized that the unity achieved during his tenure is not tied to any political party but represents the state as a whole. He expressed satisfaction that under his leadership, Akwa Ibom has become a unified state.
“My conscience is clear. I lead Akwa Ibom as one— not as a PDP state, not as an APC state, but as Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria. From now on, state events will no longer be affiliated with political parties,” Eno affirmed.
He also called on all residents to continue fostering peace and unity in the state and reflected on the significance of the Easter celebration, which saw people from various political backgrounds coming together in worship
“The true essence of Easter is seen in our collective praise and worship of God, regardless of our differences. This is the highlight of the evening,” Governor Eno concluded.
Bishop Gabriel Nkenang, who delivered the sermon on the theme “He Arose” from Matthew 28:26, emphasized that Christ’s resurrection is a unique testament to Christianity, distinguishing it from other religions.
The event featured stirring praise and worship, with choirs from various groups, including the Government House Divine Voices, State House of Assembly Choir, Judiciary Choir, College of Permanent Secretaries Choir, Board Chairmen Choir, Members of the National Assembly Choir, and Personal Aides to the Governor Choir, among others.
